At Least We Have Each Other

see us living on the edge of town right beside the old oak bridge
in the house my father built out of stone and brick
now that the company is no more there is much to be desired
our bare feet on the hardwood floors keep warm by the fire
oh oh oh oh sure things could be better
oh oh oh oh at least we have each other

every winter comes and goes and still its weight is felt
most years we’d be heading south for the work and warmth there dealt
oh but seeing as there is no money to be made anywhere
we got to thinking there was nowhere better than to stay home right here
oh oh oh oh sure things could be better
oh oh oh oh at least we have each other

let’s go sledding on the Pine Street hill
it’s too damn cold to be sitting still
and oh just to feel the thrill of knowing you’re alive
outside town the ground is white
as the day slowly is becoming night
somewhere out there in the twilight spirits root for us
oh oh oh oh sure things could be better
oh oh oh oh at least we have each other
