The band is excited to announce that it will be playing the FREE kick-off party on Thursday, May 17, 2012 for the Nelsonville. Music Festival in Nelsonville, Ohio. You can also catch Adam & Jesse Remnant in the No-fi Cabin during the festival on Friday, May 18. Athens, Ohio show Friday! + Paste Magazine’s 10 Ohio Bands You Should Listen to Now

The band is very happy to be included in Paste Magazine’s 10 Ohio Bands You Should Listen to Now. We’ve played shows with at least half the bands on the list, and we’re honored to be kept in such great company.

Also, the band is gearing up to play this Friday, May 4th for a show in Athens, Ohio at the grand opening of the town’s new venue Central Venue. Also on the bill for the evening is the incredible Scubadog, which features Southeast Engine’s own Jesse Remnant and former guitarist and frequent collaborator Josh Antonuccio. Adam & Jesse Remnant to perform at Appalachian Spring – Saturday, April 28

Adam Remnant along with his brother Jesse Remnant will perform songs from the album Canary this Saturday, April 28th at Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio as part of the Appalachian Spring weekend hosted by Little Cities of Black Diamonds. Adam is honored to be asked to perform at this unique event. The organization’s website provided some of the source material Adam used when researching Southeast Ohio during the 1920′s and 30′s to write the songs that became Canary. The event is titled “Step Into the Light,” and it features narratives of the lives of characters who lived through the history of Southeast Ohio. Adam and Jesse’s performances will be interspersed throughout the program. The event will also feature music from the incredible old-time string band Rattletrap. Don’t miss this unique event to hear these songs in further context and to learn about Southeast Ohio and its Appalachian history. Tickets can be purchased at Stuart’s Opera House.

OHIO SHOWS + RECORD STORE DAY

Southeast Engine will perform three times in the state of Ohio this weekend. The band kicks off Friday night April 20th in Athens, Ohio at the one and only Donkey Coffee for a rare intimate show in this small room. The show starts with an early time of 8:00 pm. For all of you who have asked to see the band at an earlier hour, this is your chance!

The band will head to Columbus on Saturday, April 21 for two shows. The first is for Record Store Day at Lost Weekend Records at 3:30 pm. The band may have on hand its ultra rare St. Francis 7″ split with Human Cannonball. The band will head to the Tree Bar that night for a show with Columbus’s own Old Hundred.

SXSW Tour Recap and Pickathon

Hi Folks,

We recently got back from our tour down to Texas for the SXSW Music Festival. A great time was had by all. We want to give a big thumbs up to MISRA Records for putting on a great showcase and hosting a night of great music. The new bands entering the roster are great. Do yourself a favor and check out R. Ring (Kelly Deal of The Breeders new project), Water Liars, and The Black Swans. We’ve been personally inspired by all these bands, and getting to see them perform down in Austin was truly special. We also want to thank the good folks at BLOODSHOT Records for having us perform at their annual Yard Dog Party. You can see a video below of us performing “Cold Front Blues” at the event.

We are also to excited to be a part of another incredible music festival this summer: the one and only Pickathon Music Festival in Happy Valley, Oregon alongside acts like Neko Case, Dr. Dog, Blitzen Trapper, and Cass McCombs. We will be doing a west coast tour while we are out there. Dates are coming together on our SHOWS page. Have a look.

Also, last year we stayed at home during the SXSW Festival, but Adam Remnant recorded the video below for the blog Couch by Couchwest from his home in Athens, Ohio performing the old time song “Cripple Creek.” Adam’s video and performance was deemed the “best solo performance” by CXCW last year, and it has been featured in some 2012 press coverage of CXCW, including this piece from No Depression.

We are soon to embark on our SXSW tour. We are playing many new cities for us as a band, and look forward to returning to Austin, Texas. Songwriters in the Round, SXSW, and Dayton Video

Hi Folks,
Three members of Southeast Engine: Adam Remnant, Jesse Remnant, and Billy Matheny will convene this Saturday, February 25th in Athens, Ohio to perform a Songwriter in the Round along with the acclaimed West Virginia songwriter Todd Burge. The show is at Donkey Coffee, and it starts at 8 pm.

In other news, Southeast Engine’s SXSW tour is really taking shape. The band is really looking forward to hitting the road. Our Misra showcase is now official with time and location, and we will be performing at Bloodshot Records Annual Yard Dog Party. See our SHOWS page for all the details. More to come soon regarding this tour.

Dayton This Friday, March Tour Dates, & Adam’s New Year Resolution

Hey Folks,

Southeast Engine will make a stop in Dayton, Ohio this coming Friday, February 10th at Canal Street Tavern. Sharing the bill is Dayton’s very own and wonderful Motel Beds – one of our favorite Dayton bands. Also on the bill, is the new band New Vega, who we are eager to see. We hear good things. The show starts at 9:30 pm, and doors are at 8 pm. Facebook event page is here.

In additional news, the tour dates for March surrounding SXSW are coming together with many new cities for the band including: Marietta, OH; Memphis, TN; Mobile, AL; New Orleans, LA; Houston, TX; and after the festival we’ll make a stop in Hot Springs, AR for the Valley of the Vapors Music Festival at Low Key Arts. Details are at our shows page and are continuing to updated.

We’re also excited to inform you that Adam Remnant has created a New Year goal for 2012 to record an album from his home in Athens, Ohio and has created a Tumblr blog to chronicle this adventure. Visit the blog here to learn more.

RETURN TO SXSW & Adam Remnant Solo Show on Friday in Athens, Ohio

We are pleased to announce that Southeast Engine will return to Austin, Texas for the SXSW Music Festival this March 13-18. The band will perform at the Misra Records showcase alongside The Black Swans, R. Ring, Wooden Wand, Water Liars and more. The band will also be peforming at Bloodshot Records 17th annual Yard Dog Party. In addition, the band will be playing some shows en route to the festival including stops in Marietta, Ohio; Memphis, TN; New Orleans, LA; Houston, Texas; and Hot Springs, AR. Take a look at our shows page and follow-up as shows are still being confirmed.

In addition, Adam Remnant will play a solo show this Friday, January 27th in Athens, Ohio at Donkey Coffee. The show starts at 8 pm, and tickets are $5 at the door. Adam will play solo, and will additionally perform several songs where he will be joined by brother Jesse Remnant, keyboardist Michael Lachman, and his wife Amanda Remnant. See the poster below.
